The large shady trees and outlook make this an obvious choice for a family picnic in Mornington. Conveniently located at the end of Main St, Schnapper Point makes for a short walk to scout out an ice-cream treat at the end of a great day. Coolart Homestead and Wetlands, Somers

Flinder Pier

The Flinders Pier is located at the point where Western Port meets Bass Strait. It has great views across Western Port to Phillip Island. The Flinders Pier is 250 metres (820 ft) long that juts out from the protected beach, and is sheltered from the waters of Bass Strait by West Head. This area is popular for sailing, fishing, and other watersports. The area is well known for the abundance of squid caught, especially during spring months. Numerous other species have been caught off this jetty, including: King George whiting, Australian Salmon, silver trevally, wrasse, leatherjackets, barracouta and short-finned pike. Nearby Bass Park offers barbeques, walking trails and a playground. Public toilets are available at the pier.
