Make Merriment in Murrindindi
Murrindindi (or ‘Dindi’ to the locals) is a world of natural beauty, irresistible food and wine, and wholesome country folk who love a chat.
Come with us as we explore this idyllic rural landscape less than one hour from Melbourne.
Get the lay of the land
Murchison Gap Lookout will have you spell-bound by the views across the rolling-hills of Strath Creek Valley, traditional lands of the Taungurung people, with graceful wedge-tail eagles keeping a constant watch overhead.
Seek out food & supplies
Built from a restored barn, The General Strath Creek is the community hub of this part of Dindi, keeping locals and travellers satisfied with quality coffee and an all day-breakfast menu. The General is also the perfect place to fill your esky with produce from a range of local suppliers.
Take a deep breath
Connect with nature
There are many beautiful locations across Murrindindi to get close to nature. The 45 meter Masons Falls is the star attraction at Kinglake National Park, which includes kilometres of walking trails and a fantastic picnic area set within the tall forest.
Share a table with a local
The rich soils and cool-climate of Murrindindi has attracted farmers to the region since the late 18th century. Philip Lobley is a local vigneron, eager to share his small batch wines (and delicious wood fire pizza) with passing travellers.
Settle in for the night
With so much to do and see in the region, it’s highly recommended to stay the night and continue the adventure the next day. The historic Flowerdale Estate offers a luxury glamping experience set on the sprawling 106 acres of verdant farmland.
