Tallarook Hotel

The Tallarook Hotel feels like a great country pub, sprawling across a large corner property with a huge outdoor dining space (featuring bike-adorned tables), an array of local beers and wines, and good pub food. But it wasn’t always so. The new owners of the property have made a complete and tasteful renovation, making sure that this iconic building will serve locals and travellers for decades to come.

The menu is delightfully simple – exactly what you’d expect from a country hotel. Nothing outrageously expensive or fussy. Yes, your parma is on the menu if you want that. Live music happens most weekends, and pub institutions abound like “Joker Poker” and sporting memorabilia adorning the walls. Beers on tap range from ubiquitous pub offerings from CUB to extremely local like Nagambie Brewery pale ale. Wines from the likes of local heroes Mitchelton Wines feature prominently on the list.

For anyone who’s thinking of tackling the Great Victorian Rail Trail, you should consider finishing your ride in Tallarook, with a well-earned lazy afternoon in the garden.
