The Barwitian Garden in Barwite, north-east Victoria, welcomes visitors back for a special opening, inviting a gentle return to a region recovering from recent fires. Although the garden was untouched, the opening provides an opportunity to support local communities and businesses. Set on Taungurung Country beside the Broken River, the three-acre garden is renowned for its naturalistic design. Highlights include thousands of flowering perennials, grasses, shrubs, succulents and trees. Developed over seven years, the garden blends artistic vision and ecology, using diverse, climate-responsive plantings informed by Ralph Bristow’s three decades of horticultural experience.
