Set in the leafy surrounds of Research, Nillumbik Cottage is a charming miner’s cottage encircled by a garden lovingly transformed over more than 25 years. Euphorbia lambii, herbs, succulents and aloes create a colourful, drought-tolerant entrance, while distinctive fused glass and metal sculptures add character throughout. Beyond reclaimed doors, garden rooms unfold beneath a magnificent Canadian oak and graceful weeping elms, with Japanese maples, roses, salvias, clematis, bulbs, natives and exotic plants providing rich colour and texture. A fish pond attracts frogs and birdlife. Plants and glass and metalwork will be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting Eltham Rural Group.
