A local's guide to
Ballarat: Travis Price
It would be hard to pay a visit to Ballarat without bumping into some of the artwork of Travis Price. His stylistic vintage murals appear in many locations around town and one of the city’s main hotels feature his work in each of the rooms.
Besides contributing to the aesthetic of Ballarat, Travis regularly designs limited edition posters for bands around the world including Pear Jam, the Pixies and Blink 182.
Travis was kind enough to give us a tour of some of his favourite haunts around his home town.
Art Gallery of Ballarat
I love visiting the Art Gallery of Ballarat. It’s such an amazing space. There’s always a new exhibition to check out and the gift shop stocks a lot of work from local artists. I always leave inspired.
The Comfort of Strangers
‘The Comfort of Strangers is one of my favourite places for catching up with mates or pre-drinks on a date night. It’s a small venue so you don’t have to talk over a crowd…plus amazing table service’.
Midtown Cellars and Bar
‘Midtown Cellars is another great place for catching up with mates. Huge range of craft beer from the fridges, including local legends Dollar Bill Brewing’.
Volta
‘Located in a heritage listed YMCA building, Volta has a huge weekly offering of live music crossing all genres with a great mix of local and international bands and artists’.
Kilderkin Distillery
‘A short walk from the CBD along the Yarrowee Creek, Kilderkin Distillery is the perfect spot for an afternoon tipple. Chris and Rebecca always offer an inviting atmosphere’.
