Gawa Wurundjeri Resource Trail

Mindfulness and slowing down is totally part of the OHO ethos. Taking time to understand a bit more of the land we live on – including its original custodians and the importance of the land – should be a conscious choice we all take in a bid to be better informed. Sitting just off to the side of the Yarra Glen-Eltham road is an opportunity to stop and do just that.

A small walking trail has been set up by the Nillumbik Reconciliation Group, and the interpretive signage explains the life lived by the Wurundjeri people on this piece of ancient land. The signs explain how the land provided medicine, food, tools, and clothing, and touches on some of the great Dreamtime stories.

The self-guided walk is easy, and takes only 10-15 minutes, including time to read the resources along the trail. Though it’s worth taking a little longer to make the most of the quiet time away from the rush-rush.
