Mount Arapiles (Dyuritte) has a storied history as one of Australia’s most treasured rock climbing destinations, dating back to the 1960s when climbing began to flourish there. The rugged cliffs, unique formations, and abundance of routes quickly attracted the attention of pioneering climbers, who saw Arapiles as an ideal natural training ground. The mountain’s popularity grew rapidly through the 1970s, with climbers establishing new routes and refining techniques that shaped modern Australian climbing. Today, it is celebrated globally, with over 2,000 documented routes, offering a unique blend of history, adventure, and breathtaking natural beauty.
