Step out into nature and immerse yourself in a stunning selection of privately owned gardens in Castlemaine and surrounds from 30 October until 7 November. Visitors will have the opportunity to meander among a diverse range of beautiful central Victorian gardens as part of the Castlemaine and District Festival of Gardens.

The theme of the festival, Gardens Embracing Change, has never been more poignant. Water conservation, mulching, raised beds, composting, plant selection and so on all play a part in helping our gardens survive. The festival hopes that this theme will demonstrate to visitors how we are preparing for the future, and keeping our gardens growing.

The geographic spread is consolidated, taking in Castlemaine, Barkers Creek, Elphinstone, Muckleford and Newstead – making it easy to zip around to explore a number of the gardens.
