Family connections in Hong Kong and China inspired Alistair Whyte’s interest in East Asian Art from an early age. After studying ceramics in Bendigo, he entered post-graduate studies at the Kyoto University of Fine Art where he studied porcelain technique. Being invited to enter the studio of Master Ceramicist, Hirokuni Katsuno proved to be both enlightening and life changing for him.

This retrospective exhibition shows a selection of Alistair’s extensive work from raku and earthenware to stoneware, specialising in porcelain. Alistair Whyte was a Warburton based artist and author of book Turning Inside Out about Japanese porcelain and ceramics techniques.
